Acting as a voice on local issues, the Carrum and Patterson Lakes Forum has played a part in overseeing funding for over $500 million in projects both locally and regionally. 10 years ago this May, the foundation for this community platform was formed. Some highlights include the $523M Mordialloc Freeway, $9M Roy Dore Reserve redevelopment, $535,000 town centre mooring facilities, funding a Patterson River litter trap (to be upgraded), footpath and accessibility upgrades, saving The Cove Hotel and addressing local crime issues.
Or as Leader labels it: “The power of community spirit and social media has seen more than $540m poured into projects to improve a seaside suburb in Melbourne’s southeast.”
Thanks to volunteers and community input we continue to have success, and since 2010 dedicated online platforms to crime, business and community discussion have been developed.
